Internet will represent 50% of total media investment for 2020

We are in the information age and the Internet has become one of the main advertising media for any brand, it is a priority for almost all (if not all) advertisers to have online presence, but especially to be relevant in this coveted environment. Internet advertising can be implemented in thousands of ways, each time we have more information about users and their behaviour, which is why the opportunity to maximize exponentially the investment can be offered to those who choose this medium.

In this context, recently,  WARC has published the 'Global Ad Trends, May 2019: Drivers of online growth' from where they have shared data on Internet advertising spending and how it has grown five times faster than traditional media since 2010. Mobile is now the main online channel and will represent 95% of the growth of Internet ads in 2019.

The formats that contribute most to the growth of investment in the Internet are those of visualization, this is due to the fact that social media and online videos increased in advertising investment.

The data indicate that the first wave of Internet growth was driven by display and keyword advertising on desktops search engines, the second phase was driven by social media advertising delivered on mobile devices.


By 2019, globally the Internet will reach 298,1 billion dollars of investment, this if the current trend remains.

On this basis and projection for next year we can say that the Internet is a medium to which we must pay special attention in the design and implementation of strategies for 2020. This could be seen as a higher level of competition for the best spaces, however, a key point in this regard will be to count on RTB (Real-time bidding) and DSP (Demand Side Platform) for an automated, efficient and optimized to buy advertising.
